New RSV Vaccine Rollout in the UK

Starting this September, the UK will launch a ground-breaking vaccination program to protect against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). The program, the first of its kind globally, will provide vaccinations for both pregnant women and older adults.

RSV is a serious respiratory virus that can lead to severe lung infections, particularly in infants and the elderly. This new vaccination aims to reduce hospitalisations and save lives, and help  ease the pressure on the NHS during the winter months.

Expectant mothers from 28 weeks onwards can receive the vaccine to safeguard their babies, and those aged 75 and over will also be eligible for the vaccine.

For more details, please view the UKHSA’s press release, or consult with your GP to check your eligibility and schedule your vaccination.
