Here you can find some useful information relating to the governance of the parish of Little Dewchurch. The Little Dewchurch Parish Council meets once a month, except August and December.
Please see Parish Council Meetings for the latest meeting dates, agendas and the agreed minutes of the last meeting. Previous agendas and minutes can be found under Public Documents. Generally the role of a Parish Council is to maintain and improve the quality of community life for their parish and its inhabitants.
Amongst other things, they can:
- Give considered views, on behalf of their community, on planning applications and other proposals that affect the parish.
- Undertake projects and schemes that benefit local residents.
- Work in partnership with other bodies to achieve benefits for the parish.
- Alert relevant authorities to problems that arise or work that needs to be undertaken.
- Help the other tiers of local government keep in touch with their local communities.
All Parish Councils are responsible for managing their own budgets. They are financed through the ‘precept’ (an amount of money, calculated as an estimate, for the coming financial year and collected as part of household Council Tax). This money is used to improve facilities and services for local people.
Parish Councils have a range of powers and duties in relation to the communities they serve.
This Parish Council actively encourages input from residents on community needs, so that they can consider, assess and budget for that activity.
