The LDSC comprises of a fun group of volunteers who organise a range of events in the village throughout the year. Their aim is purely to create enjoyable, community spirited events which bring the parishioners together either for free, or for a very minimal charge. Each year our timetable changes depending on the popularity and feasibility of running the event. But the basic programme looks pretty much like this:
- February: Event in the Village Hall (possibly a curry and quiz night, bingo etc).
- Friday 22nd March 2024 – 7.30pm – Village History evening
- Easter: Egg hunt on the playing fields.
- May: Bring and Share Lunch.
- July/August: Village Fun Day on the Green.
- November: Firework extravaganza with hot dogs in the Village Hall.
- December: Mulled wine and mince pies on the Green with carol singing during the tractor run in aid of “We Are Farming Minds” charity.
Any spare funds raised historically have been used for
- Community Defibrillator (Located in the porch of the Village Hall)
- External CCTV for the Hall
- Dog Walking Zone
Each year the committee decides which local charities to donate money to and in the past we have given to
- St Michael’s Hospice
- West Midlands Air Ambulance
- Breast Cancer Charity
- Little Dewchurch Over 60’s club
- MacMillan Nurses
……to name but a few.
